This year’s 2017 NZ MX Nationals was held over 4 Rounds: Timaru, Rotorua, Manawatu and Taupo. The National Motocross Series was particularly competitive with a number of Australia riders making use of race-time in NZ’s MX Series prior to Australia’s MX Nationals which starts in 2 weeks time.
In MX1 heading into the Final Round today, Australia’s Dean Ferris held a one point lead over NZ’s multi-time Champion Cody Cooper (BW Honda). It was Cooper’s day going 1-1-1 celebrating the coveted 2017 MX 1 Championship Title for the 5th time.

The MX2 class was equally exciting with the consistent KTM rider Hamish Harwood claiming the MX2 Title for the 2nd year in a row holding off a fast finishing Dylan Walsh (Altherm JCR Yamaha).
The 125cc class was an all out KTM affair with the 16 year old Hayden Smith taking the 125cc Title for 2017.
