MXLink Films Wrap 2017

Sequence 01.Still003

2017 Film work has been huge year, with filming covering varying Motorsport athletes in New Zealand and Europe.

The year’s filming started at 2017 MXGP Opening Round in Qatar where I interviewed Hunter Lawrence at his debut MX2 appearance racing under then Suzuki World MXGP Stefan Everts. Looking back this was the start of a great MXGP season for the young Australian.

Returning back to NZ, filming KTM Adventure Ambassador Chris Birch in preparation for Hellas Rally and Red Bull Romaniacs at his home in Coromandal, giving tips on what happens when it goes wrong in these Extreme Enduro races.

Filming in Europe at Ernee MXGP in May, allowed an opportunity to trace NZ’s Josiah Natzke EMX250 season with his Round win at Latvia, followed by filming NZ’s Women Motocross World Championship contender Courtney Duncan.

Travelling to film Avalon Biddle in Roermond, Netherlands proved Women racing Motorsport are as determined, focused and physically prepared as their male counterparts with Avalon competing in World SuperBike (WSBK) Championships SSP300 class in 2017.

Home in NZ gave opportunity to film KTM’s Hadleigh Knight in preparation for racing Japan’s Motocross Nationals 2017 along with NZ’s MX1 Champion Cody Cooper coaching rising youngster Trent Collins under the umbrella Brand Blue Wing Honda NZ and Sky Sport NZ.

Filming Darryll King at Patetonga Motorcycle Club’s track was superb shoot where DK shares his wealth of experience on coaching tips for young riders and older from riding ruts, getting air-borne over jumps, nailing rollers and tackling those flat corners and berms.

Hamish and Mason low res png 2KTM’s CML Race team of NZ’s MX2 Champion Hamish Harwood and Australia’s Mason Semmens shared their thoughts on racing 125SX, 250SX, 250F and 300 at newly developed Flight Path track in Auckland, NZ.

The year capped off with Filming Italian Women Motocross World Champion 4x, now 5x Kiara Fontanesi. Along with James Bennell, we filmed Kiara at her home base in Parma, Italy prior to the Women’s MX Championship Final 2 Rounds.

With gratitude to Kiara and her family, we were able to capture Kiara, in person, highlight her character of positivity, strength, tenacity to achieve success with utmost passion and desire to race in a sport she loves and shares with her family. A privilege indeed.

Quite a year, wrapped up in Film edit below.

Best wishes to everyone, and see you all in 2018.
