A coach/trainer of Motocross riders- would be Champions- has a special talent only few hold.

Typically, trainers/coaches/Team Managers work with riders within the Brand/Team environments to achieve the best performances from Motocross athletes through guidance and teaching of skills learnt through-out their careers.

Text book reading would highlight the coach working on rider’s bike technique, fitness, mental toughness, race-craft pre-during and post racing within a planned day-weekly and monthly schedule.

Fitting this analysis it would be fair to say World Motocross Champions, AMA and SX Champions and the like would achieve the transition from achieving success as a World MX Champion on the track to deliver results from would be Champions track-side.

Not quite.

Few have achieved success working with talented, promising yet unknown upcoming Motocross riders determined to make it big on the world stage.

Notable great Champions: Roger De Coster, Stefan Everts, Mitch Payton, Michele Rinaldi stand out for their innate gift of connecting with a rider’s character that will form the next MX Champion.

DeCoster and Ryan Dungey, Everts and Jeffrey Herlings, Mitch Payton and Ryan Villopoto and Michele Rinaldi with Josh Coppins.

Testament to these Champions working track-side will be the ability to maintain delivery of high performance Motocross athletes from the next generation coming through as seen in the European Motocross Championship 125cc, 250cc, 150cc and America’s Loretta Lynn’s.

The winning formulas will no doubt be recognised at the pointy end of the Championship table come the end of future Motocross seasons.
