MXLink Live connecting Women in Motorsport invites guests Sara Garcia who competed in 2020 Dakar Rally and Rachael Archer who is currently racing America’s GNCC WXC class.
Sara Garcia competed in The Dakar Rally ‘Unassisted category’ – a massive feat in itself which involved no help night and day over course of 12 stages. Having already tasted how difficult the challenge was succumbing to withdrawal due to mechanical issues in 2019- Sara finished gruelling event crossing the finish line in 22nd place.
Sara raced the whole 12 Stages ‘Original by Motul’ category unassisted, putting in mechanical work at night by herself, with lack of sleep creeping in over final Stages of Rally. Making history, Sara stands as first female to ever complete The Dakar Rally in ‘Unassisted class’.
Rachael Archer currently races America’s GNCC WXC class for Women standing 4th Overall after 3 Rounds of 13 completed. Taking on board the many challenges of moving from New Zealand to race her debut year under AmPro Yamaha in 2019, Rachael entered 2020 WXC Championship with well earned experience to match her Women competitors.
Taking 3rd podium in WXC Opening Round at Big Buck, South Carolina in February, followed by 4th at Wild Boar and The General, Rachael has since returned home after COVID-19 erupted and awaits for racing to resume.
