Nancy Van de Ven heads into Italian Women MX Championship Round 2 with plenty of confidence on track

Nancy Van de Ven has gained fresh momentum heading into Italian Motocross Women Championship Round 2 this weekend having gained victory at Round One coupled with double win at Women’s Open Dutch Championship Round One last weekend.

Nancy and Francesca Ghidinelli Racing at Italian MX Championship Round One finishing 1st and 3rd podium.

Racing in the heavy sand track of Boekel, Nancy proved the switch to race under Ghidinelli Racing with team-rider Francesca Nocera has been just the boost to increase self-belief, confidence and forward progression nailing 1-1 victory over fellow Dutch riders Shana van der Vlist and Lynn Valk.

With eyes firmly set on achieving long-wanted goals of winning Women MX World Championship Title, 2020 has certainly pushed the Dutch ace to reach beyond traditional boundaries of train-race-re-boot to do it all over again.

YES, this year Nancy has proved she is more than capable of rolling with change- albeit enforced through COVID restrictions or imposed by her own decisions.

And, such ability to pull out all stops on the track, when #85 has just spent best part of 3 months with no racing sends message to all that 4th standing in 2020 WMX is up for renewal come Round 3 in few weeks time.

Racing Campionato Italian Motocross Women Round 2 at Brescia this weekend, Nancy holds lead over 6x WMX Champion Kiara Fontanesi. With full-gate of 39 Women riders pumped to race, it will certainly prompt battles up front along with opportunities for younger females to race amongst best women racers in the world.

All of which will be precursor for WMX Round 3 on September 27th at Mantova. What will be the difference though- is no fans, no public atmosphere, and no distractions track-side. For Nancy, the ‘no spectators’ will be to her advantage as she so often admits, she rides better during practice than on actual race-days.

Nerves, anxiety of performance, tension won’t make such a presence which means the Ghidinelli rider can focus solely on what she does best: ‘nail the start, get the gap and push through to the chequered’.

If ever there was a year where the possible can happen, this is it and Nancy is about to prove that in more ways than one.
