Courtney Duncan took cool, as victory in Race 1 of Women MX World Championship Round 3 at MXGP of Loket today, heading off any banging of bars early in the race, leading from Opening lap to chequered with 36 second margin over 2nd place Yamaha rider Nancy van de Ven.

It was mixture of young guns pushing their way up-front that proved surprising, along with mistake by newly crowned French Women MX Champion Amandine Verstappen which changed race order at half-way stage.

Unfortunate stalling of bike for Yamaha’s Larissa Papenemier proved costly, losing 10 seconds, making hard work to recover lost ground to finish 4th in Race 1 of weekend.

Solid performance by Danish rider Sara Andersen, meant 2 EMX Women MX Round wins was no pure luck on the day, with the KTM rider rounding out the top 3 in Race 1.

Shana van der Vlist played safe and kept bike on 2 wheels to come home in 5th, followed by Honda’s Line Dam finishing 6th heading into Race 2 early Sunday morning.
